The 20th Century was a turning point for many things. There were a lot of inventions that took place. It was interesting that art seemed to de-evolve. It went from realistic paintings to abstract art that looks like it could be painted in 1 minute.

World War 1, also known as "The Great War," was a global conflict that began in July 1914 and lasted until November 1918. It involved 32 countries and over 20 million deaths. A lot of things were first used in World War 1 such as machine guns, tanks, planes, and poison gas. The fighting spread across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The war ended after the Treaty of Versailles was signed. World War II was the largest and most deadliest global conflict in history, lasting from 1939 to 1945 and resulting in over 60 million fatalities. The war began when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. A few new things were used in World War 2 such as aircraft carriers, tanks and submarines. On May 8, 1945, Germany surrendered. The Cold War, which lasted from 1947 to 1991, was a period of fierce competition and tension between the capitalist West and communist East. The conflict took place mainly in Europe and Asia, with the United States and its allies on one side, and the Soviet Union and its allies on the other. It ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
