The aztecs

The Aztecs

The aztecs were located in mexico and their empire lasted from 1519-1522. Much of todays society would consider them barbaric, as they sacrificed over 250,000 people a year, the reason for doing so was to please their gods. They used blades of obsidian to cut open the skin and take out the heart. In many cases it was considered an honor to be sacrificed and cannibalized. Below is a map of the aztec empire:
